Historical Baptist Church on Vancouver Ave, Portland

In this term's Geography of Globalization class I ask students to use a map to interpret Portland as a global city and explain its challenges in terms of resource accessibility: https://arcg.is/04GbnL. The story showed in this map is a part of a community based movement with an aim to preserve a historical heritage--the Vancouver Ave Baptist Church facing gentrification in the Northeast Portland. I hope students can find that as Portland is developing and getting close to so called "Global City," uneven development is also getting sever, which can be observed through gentrification, alongside "white wash" in this area.
